Setting up your leagues
Ruxin AI works inside the leagues you already play in. This guide walks through adding them from Sleeper, ESPN and Yahoo, letting Ruxin make moves, and fixing the usual snags. Most people are set up in a few minutes.
Before you start
- You need a Ruxin account. Sign in from the top right of any page.
- Have your fantasy sign-ins handy: your Sleeper username, your ESPN account on a computer (for two sign-in values from your browser), and your Yahoo login.
- Ruxin never asks for your Sleeper, ESPN or Yahoo password. It keeps only the sign-in tokens those sites issue, encrypted.
The quick way: Sync a new league
Every league, on every platform, can be added the same way.
- Click Sync a new league on My leagues or in Settings > Account.
- Select a site: Sleeper, ESPN or Yahoo.
- Connect: sign in to that site the way its section below describes. Ruxin then shows “Syncing your leagues” while it looks them up.
- Select which leagues to add: every league you're in this season is listed and checked. Uncheck any you don't want Ruxin to manage. Leagues already in Ruxin are marked “Previously synced.”
- Click Finish. Your leagues appear on My leagues, and Ruxin starts reading them right away.
Sleeper
1. Add your leagues
- Go to Sync a new league > Sleeper.
- Enter your Sleeper username (not the email you sign in with). You can find it in the Sleeper app under your profile, or in the address of your profile on sleeper.com.
- Click Continue, check the leagues you want, and click Finish.
At this point Ruxin can read your Sleeper leagues: rosters, projections, matchups and waiver ideas. Your leagues show “Read-only” until you finish step 2.
2. Let Ruxin make Sleeper moves (optional)
Sleeper has no official way for apps to make moves, so Ruxin uses your own sleeper.com sign-in, the same way the Sleeper website does. You hand it over once with a bookmark:
- On a computer, open Settings > Account and find Let Ruxin make Sleeper moves.
- Drag the Send to Ruxin button to your browser's bookmarks bar. (Or click “Or copy the bookmark's address” and create a bookmark with it by hand.)
- Sign in at sleeper.com as usual.
- While you're on sleeper.com, click the Send to Ruxin bookmark. Ruxin opens in a new tab and confirms it's connected.
Your Sleeper leagues now show “Full access”: Ruxin can set lineups, add and drop players, file waiver claims and send trade offers.
ESPN
ESPN doesn't offer apps a sign-in page, so Ruxin uses two values your browser already keeps after you sign in to ESPN: espn_s2 and SWID. They let Ruxin list your leagues (private ones too), find your team in each, and make moves.
1. Copy your ESPN sign-in values
- On a computer, sign in at fantasy.espn.com.
- Open developer tools: Cmd+Option+I on a Mac, F12 on Windows.
- Go to Application (Chrome, Edge) or Storage (Firefox, Safari), then Cookies >
https://fantasy.espn.com. - Find
espn_s2and copy its whole value. It's long: letters, numbers and % signs. - Find
SWIDand copy its value, including the curly braces, like{1A2B3C4D-...}.
2. Add your leagues
- Go to Sync a new league > ESPN.
- Paste the two values into the espn_s2 and SWID boxes and click Sign in to ESPN.
- Ruxin checks them with ESPN and lists your leagues for this season, with your team already picked in each. Check the ones you want and click Finish.
Your ESPN leagues show “Full access”: Ruxin can set lineups, add and drop players, and file waiver claims. Trade ideas are saved for you to offer in the ESPN app.
Yahoo
- Go to Sync a new league > Yahoo and click Continue to Yahoo.
- Sign in to Yahoo if asked, and approve Ruxin. Yahoo sends you back to Ruxin.
- Check the leagues you want and click Finish.
Yahoo uses its own sign-in page, so you never copy anything. Ruxin can set your Yahoo lineups today, with adds and trades on the way.
Adding a league by ID
If a league doesn't show up in the sync (an older season, or a league on another account), you can add it by its league ID.
- Find the league ID in the league's address on the web:
- ESPN: the number after
leagueId=, as infantasy.espn.com/football/league?leagueId=123456. - Yahoo: the number after
/f1/, as infootball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/123456. - Sleeper: the long number after
/leagues/, as insleeper.com/leagues/1234567890123456789. (Sleeper leagues normally come in through the sync.)
- ESPN: the number after
- In Settings > Account, go to Add an ESPN or Yahoo league.
- Pick the platform, enter the league ID and season, choose the league type, and click Check and add league.
Ruxin looks the league up on its platform first. A private ESPN league needs your ESPN sign-in (above) before Ruxin can read it.
After you add a league
Set the league type
Ruxin plays differently in redraft, keeper, dynasty and guillotine leagues (for example, guillotine leagues weigh this week's points and save FAAB early). In Settings > Account, open the ··· menu next to a league and pick its League type.
Check your ESPN team
Ruxin finds your ESPN team from your sign-in. If it ever picks the wrong one, use Change team in the same ··· menu.
Choose how much Ruxin does
In Settings > AI permissions, set each feature to Off, Suggest, Approve or Auto, for all leagues or one league at a time. Start with Suggest or Approve, and move to Auto when you trust it. See Settings for the other tabs.
Protect your players
On a league's page, mark anyone Don't drop and Ruxin will never drop them.
Remove a league
Choose Remove from Ruxin in the league's ··· menu. Nothing changes in the league itself.
Settings
Settings has a tab for each area, with what Ruxin may do on its own first:
- AI permissions
- How much Ruxin does by itself for lineups, injury swaps, waivers, free agents, streaming, in-game swaps and trades: Off, Suggest (you make the move), Approve (Ruxin asks first) or Auto. Set it for all leagues, or pick a league to set it just there. In-game swaps (Sleeper and Yahoo) drop a bench player once his game has ended, when he got hurt or had a bad game, for a free agent from a later game; each one expires at that player’s kickoff, and Ruxin asks first unless you choose Auto.
- Guardrails
- The limits Ruxin works within: FAAB caps and reserve, adds and trade offers, drop protection, and whether a kicker can make room for a stash.
- Notifications
- Move emails (each move, a daily digest, or off), news alerts and the weekly report, plus a test email.
- Suggestions
- Mute a league's suggestions for a day, a week or four weeks, or turn them off; turn them back on here too.
- Features
- Views that don't make moves, like player exposure.
- Account
- Your leagues and their access, your Sleeper, ESPN and Yahoo connections, adding a league by ID, your name, and signing out.
What the access labels mean
Each league in Settings > Account shows what Ruxin can do there:
- Not connected
- Ruxin can't read the league yet. Connect the platform (above).
- Read-only (can't make changes)
- Ruxin reads the league and makes suggestions, but can't make moves. For Sleeper, finish “Let Ruxin make Sleeper moves.”
- Full access
- Ruxin can read the league and make the moves your settings allow.
- Error
- Something went wrong, usually an expired sign-in. Hover the label for details and reconnect that platform.
Troubleshooting
- “That Sleeper sign-in belongs to a different account”
- You clicked Send to Ruxin while signed in to a different Sleeper account. Sign in to sleeper.com as the account you synced, then click the bookmark again.
- “ESPN didn't accept those cookies”
- Copy both values again while signed in to espn.com. Make sure you copied the whole
espn_s2value and kept the braces aroundSWID. - A league is missing from the sync
- The sync lists this season's leagues for the account you connected. Try “Use another account,” or add the league by ID.
- “Yahoo isn't switched on in Ruxin yet”
- Yahoo connections aren't available on this Ruxin site yet. Your Sleeper and ESPN leagues work in the meantime.
- A move says “Needs a check”
- Ruxin sent the move but the platform didn't show it yet. Open the league with the Check link, then tap “This worked” or “This didn't work.”
